Grand Bend, Ontario, the new location of our Half Moon St. Boutique and my “Tangling with Brenda” studio was lovely in so many ways this weekend. Zentangle and new “tangle addicts” were some of the highlights but another was having the opportunity of enjoying beautiful music and the great performance of a young home grown Grand Bend artist at the Colonial Hotel on Sat evening, Clara Stegall.
A lovely, dynamic and amazing woman, Margie, happened by our shop on our opening weekend and has become a great friend and net worker for “Half Moon St” and “Tangling with Brenda”. Already Margie has introduced us to so many people and has become our No. I advocate for our business. Margie spends her time between Minnesota and Grand Bend and loves to see new business arrive in her favourite beach town.
We were delighted to be invited to participate in Clara Stegall’s gig at the Colonial and enjoy Margie’s homemade birthday cake for Clara who just turned 18 yesterday. We just know she will soon be on the charts as a Canadian star. Clara is already working on her first album and has all the makings, a wonderful family and group of friends encouraging her. Her voice is an elegant blend of pop, soul and jazz and along with playing the guitar and keyboard she is so sweet and humble. Clara is an absolute delight. Grand Bend has such an eclectic group of home growns and visitors. We also loved meeting and enjoying the group who accompanied Clara. Her fun loving “New-Old Friends” (or is is “Old-New Friends” .. I don’t think anyone was quite clear… LOL ) including Clara’s dad, Mark on the sax, Margie’s brother, Phil on the drums, John on base and Jos on guitar. These guys were amazing too and have been playing in bands for many years. Lots of fun and lots of laughs…and they love Clara.
Thank you Margie for including us and all your encouragement. We can hardly wait till the next performance in June. We will be playing Clara’s music in the shop so stay tuned!!
