Meet the Workshop Teachers
Danielle DeRome CZT
Danielle has been arting and teaching ”forever!” She started life in California, but grew up in Barcelona where she trained in ceramics and enamel on copper at the Escola Massana. Later, she got a “serious degree” and then a Masters in Environmental and Systematic Biology at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Through all that, she always had at least one foot in the classroom and another in some art project. Her latest explorations have been in bookbinding and Celtic knots. Her Spring Fling proposal reflects her love of knots, tangle fragments, and stretching the limits.

Inge has taught all age groups across Eastern Bavaria and Austria, including at the “School of Fantasy” in Straubing and in holiday programs in Lower Bavaria. Since the pandemic, she has transitioned to online teaching, offering workshops in both German and English. Jane Rhea CZT
Jane retired after a very rewarding career in education, and wondered what was next.
She thought she wanted to color and bought a magazine in 2016 that featured an article about the Zentangle method. Zentangle spoke to her creativity. She worked her way through a book, called Molly and was given permission to teach. Jane became a CZT at Seminar # 27 in early 2017, and refreshed online at Seminar # 36. She has taught a monthly class at her local library since the summer of 2016, and continues to the present at her local community learning center. She learns something from her students each and every time she teaches. She continues to take on-line classes to keep learning from many CZT friends. It brings her joy to learn from her fellow CZT’s! Tina Coutts CZT
I discovered Zentangle in 2013 when a photo popped up on FB that intrigued me. With a long history of doodling to survive work meetings, this seemed like a good idea. I found Brenda, and started taking regular classes. In 2016 when I retired, CZT training was my retirement gift to myself. Life has taken its own road, and today I regularly tangle, teach when asked, but for the most part bring Zentangle and all the other paper arts I have dabbled in over the years to book making. The lessons of Zentangle stay with me. One stroke at a time. There are no mistakes, only creative opportunities. Believe in yourself.
Kelly Barone CZT
Kelly is an art educator, and artist who loves to play with new ideas. Working in watercolor, pen and ink, botanical alchemy and illustration, nature has a heavy influence on much of her work. Owner of Whimsy by Kelly, you can find her in her studio located in the historic district of Allentown in Downtown Buffalo NY inside Hiraeth House. “I believe art is for everyone, my youngest student is 4 and my oldest is 97. You can do this, you just have to remember that your imagination is magic”
Brenda Shaver CZT

Brenda is the Organizer of TangleOn Retreats. She has spent her entire life involved in the arts and crafts industry as an entrepreneur and teacher. However, it wasn’t until she found Zentangle® in 2012, and became a CZT 8, that she knew this amazing art form was special and a natural progression to her already innovative career. Brenda is passionate about bringing people together and learning from others. She is a personal testament that the Zentangle Method works as she shares its magic in workshops with students of every age and ability. Creativity and imagination are constant everyday necessities for Brenda. She loves spending time with her family, her three lovely grandchildren and is often inspired by their artwork.
